Sweeney Plant and Vehicle Hire has a large fleet of vehicles and plant equipment available for hire from our depot in Petersburn Road, Airdrie. We cater to the supply of short and long term hires. We do not operate a call holding or automated response service. Vehicle Hire
We consider ourselves to be one of the most effective and reliable specialist vehicle hire companies in the hire drive industry. Our aim at all times is to provide a quality vehicle backed up by our quality of service assisting you in getting the job completed efficiently and as quickly as possible.
We offer a wide range of vehicles for your short and long term requirements. As an independent company with no affiliation to any manufacturer, we can offer you a wide range of vehicle and equipment makes and models – from small vans to hotboxes, a selection of tippers, hook lifts, builders merchant vehicles with cranes to name a few.
Our range of vehicles and flexibility allows you to add to your existing fleet at your peak periods, breakdowns or to give you time to plan for expansion without major capital commitment. Sweeney can be relied upon to provide a prompt backup service to your own fleet whenever required.
All vehicles are available for self-drive hire from one day onwards.
Plant Hire
We have over 40 years experience in supplying a reliable and quality product complemented (if required) by experienced operators for all your plant requirements.
We offer a comprehensive range of 360° Excavators (1½ ton to 21 ton), Wheeled Shovels, LGP Dozers, 180° Wheeled Excavators and Hydraulic Hammers from all the leading manufacturers. These are complemented by our range of construction use vehicles such as Dedicated Hot Boxes, Hook lifts, Tippers etc all available on both short and long term hire supported by our experienced staff.
All plant equipment is available for hire with and without an operator, from one day onwards.

Contract hire is the way ahead for the modern business, so let us take away your fleet management problems. No more hidden costs, no more phoning around garages for breakdown servicing – let Sweeney take the strain. We will assist in the design and specification of the vehicles to suit your exact requirements. Plus as we are totally independent of any manufacturer this means you get the vehicle you need, whatever your requirements.
The vehicles are delivered ready for work, in your own livery should you wish it.
Within Contract Hire the tax and accounting treatment is consistent, so vehicles do not appear on your balance sheet as set out in the standard accounting rules, avoiding any potential gearing problems for the user and fixed term rates allow for accurate forecasting of your vehicle costs, with capital costs released to be used for greater benefits elsewhere.
